Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum will keep your floors tidy enough to decrease the frequency of hoovering manually. Find one that has an easy navigation, can sweep corners and stairs, and has a large dust bin that needs emptying only every few times.

You can also find models that mop and charge themselves This feature could be beneficial for those with pets or children. The top performers in our tests have good obstacles to avoid.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is an excellent option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the dust bin when it is full.

Both robots are proficient at removing surface dirt on floors and carpets, and they can easily navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ or other top Rated robot vacuum-rated robots we tested, the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other items it may encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filters clean to prevent them from getting blocked. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning where it left off. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes 3 hours to charge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most important feature of all -- it has an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or via the app.

The i7+ is more efficient and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin that eliminates major sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room and sweep a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After connecting, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a world of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for the majority of households however, it can also fit perfectly next to the table for a coffee or shelves where you can wave it around like a magic tool.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpets to trap large dust and crumbs. It comes with three suction settings to meet the task that is being completed. It is able to quickly change from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum, and vice versa.

The model also comes with a dock that charges to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments and an clip for a wand. This is a significant improvement over previous Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The main issue with the V10 is its limited run time. Its marketing claims that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are a bit misleading as CR's tests show. This is an average not an extraordinary time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum bot. This is enough time to vacuum the typical home, but not enough to get into every corner. (A second time generally works). This doesn't mean that this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming efficiency is better on low-pile carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on a robot. It's capable of sucking up all kinds of debris in our tests, and frequently goes over the same areas multiple times to ensure a thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows it to reach into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice touch.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capability of more advanced models like our top 5 robot vacuum choices and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It can get stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and will often run out of power before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 in that it has less parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower recurring cost and has more advanced automation capabilities and is able to better move its own. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips and can be controlled with the voice assistant on your smartphone. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and can perform better on floors with bare or low-pile.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name that you see on all sorts of electronic gadgets for your home, so it comes as no surprise that they're one of the most reputable mop and best inexpensive robot vacuum vacuum manufacturers. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior modifications, docking frequency settings and more. The app is simple to learn and use as are other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it wasn't particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we tried which could be a problem for certain shoppers.

The app allows you to access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature allows you to check in on pets or the kids if you're away from home. The dustbin and the filter can be washed for the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic floor cleaning machine clean station which helps to keep the bin clean and maximizes suction power.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Contrary to other robotic vacuums which are designed for both carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. They come with a wide cleaning path and an extra-large dustbin that holds twice as much debris than the competition to keep the cleaning area free of debris for the longest period of time. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers to clean along edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which can tell if it's picking up dirt or debris on the surface and automatically adjusts the power level. It also comes with a smart app that lets you see the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. You can also track the vacuum's status and send it to its dock for charging at the press of a single button. The app lets you customize the LED lights on the top robot vacuum of the vacuum so that you can discern where it is focusing or if it's stuck.

The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually, if necessary. For instance my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that can trip up some of the other robots I've tested. However the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving convenience.
