Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. These can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to a blue level before the component can be applied. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
