World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all its upgraded advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on who you hire and what you do. This is due to the fact that many perks have to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

Item level is a widely used measure of power, and can be found on all item upgrading tooltips. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at a lower level. Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.

Using the item level can help players compare the potency of gear when they decide to buy or sell. It's a measure of the item's damage and quality. Comparing items in a vendor's stock can be done by using the level of the item.

On your PC, you can check the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the full item description, including its value. It is also accessible by hovering an item with the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories about how the level of an item is calculated. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated using an equation that determines how valuable the stats of an item really are. It considers the fact that different perks have different worth and that gems in sockets increase the item's overall value. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl which is usually close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

This is not the only factor that influences the value of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped may alter its stats. For instance it can increase the item upgrading's haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats are a big element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat mods on weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats of the item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item, for example, will only be upgraded one time, while an item with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at higher costs.

Another method to alter the stats of an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items additional damage or other special abilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs), or to differentiate them by adding a name.

Currently, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circles arrows. This will cost a specific amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other methods of rerolling.

Players can upgrade an item with a specific stat, or reroll attaches. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However each item will contain at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an exclusive item, or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another thing that could be changed by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or deciding which stats to enhance. However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item basis, and the interface for item comparison will not show all the stats that could be gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the odds of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the strength of those properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade their gear earlier in the game. This is more useful in the early game, since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability that increases with each level and can be further increased through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn using the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to increase the value of 40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any ability that is able to deal damage by five percent. These items can be bought in the shop, or they can be made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be a costly process and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item if it does not work.

The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't be greater than 100%..

The success of an item upgrade is also affected by the Luck of that item. Every item has an overall success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This can cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Best item upgrader Upgrader CORE client config.
