The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as a dirt detectors) are a plus.

Be sure to regularly examine the brushes of your robot hoover and mop for hair that is tangled and large particles and clean them as needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and operates while you are at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and provide better cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot hoover and mop vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an easy mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and a little more cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and automatic vacuum and mop robot. It comes with a variety of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the home based on how dirty those areas are.

For larger homes, it's worth opting for models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Also the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots that vacuum and mop we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
