Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like damage from PvE and crit chance.

For example a weapon that has the upgrade template ending in % will take on 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the current level of the item. The cost increases as the item level increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets in order to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it is used on (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item upgrader mod's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment that require the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can alter the defense or attack properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop, or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.

The player can have up to five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will appear in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of how much it will improve following a subsequent reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be costly, and it is possible that the item will become obsolete, or even break, when the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the chance of failure. Certain upgrades also provide an additional bonus when reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, which includes any existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we suggest getting them to level 15 as soon as you can.

In the final game, you will often find that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and offer a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes faster.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values it can improve a stat by. The value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs as well as some rare Glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab in crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item. Once enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When an item is upgraded by a player, the base item is replaced with a new item of the same type. The same armor will receive a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own set of bonuses. This could be a disadvantage, as the item can be more expensive even if you do not need it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades. The item will be replaced with an entirely new item that has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This can be useful, but should not be used frequently as it can be a waste of resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides a buff if the player is repeatedly in or exits water. This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the maximum roll by an increment of 10. However, the player can still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded receives a crit chance boost, the increase will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. Slots is a brand new attribute that was added to the definitions of items. The value is calculated each time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its value. For example, a common item upgrader mod might have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will come with a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items have different requirements for upgrading in comparison to standard equipment. For instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons.
