Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.

For example, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will take on 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them. The item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix that alters the name of the equipment with which it is used (for examplefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment that require less Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A 'boost upgrade item' can alter the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them in the cash shop, or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of the item will drop during the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear even in the event that they don't know what will be improved following a reset.

Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly and there is a high chance that the item could be obsolete or even break when it fails; a unsuccessful upgrade could ruin the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the risk of failure. Some upgrades also give a bonus if reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, which includes any existing affixes. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as you can to level 15.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a stat by, and the value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs then you have to put them on your equipment. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.

Using Glyphs Glyph will boost all the nodes connected to it, so you should aim to place your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximise the impact. For instance an Druid should try to place their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes, but also consider placing them near critical damage nodes, too.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the stats of specific items by introducing upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each item level requires a different number of components to reach and the costs for upgrading increase as the item upgrader mod gets advanced in level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used for upgrading an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be eligible to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When an individual player upgrades the equipment they have the original item will be replaced with the new item. The same armor will receive the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own set bonus. This can be a disadvantage in that it could make the item more expensive if you don't need it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll item upgrades. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, with the level 1 base, and a completely different set of bonus bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, but it's not something that should be repeated often, as it can use up a lot of resources.

Certain upgrades can boost their value, allowing players to customize their gear. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or swims like a dolphin). This can be upgraded several times, each time raising the max roll by 10 points. This item is highly useful in PvP. A perfectly rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of its unupgraded counterpart.

Requirements
