1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They have motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture leg. They also have carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors They are also adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you want to change the mopping pad to a dry one in minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum cleaner and mop robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum uk vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's compact models, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they are.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot cleaner with mop to clean one particular area of your house via the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
