However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and can be used while you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' compact models This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and more attractive. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.
