Path of Exile Item Upgrader Mod Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a frequent and important way to improve the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade gear because of their high requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item upgrader mod that they're connected to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of games and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Additionally, they can be salvaged from items that have upgrade components within them by with a professional or higher salvage kit.
The amount of damage that a piece of armor or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the extent of its upgrades. Upgrading a piece of armor to its highest upgrade level will increase the damage it absorbs. However, it's important keep in mind that this will increase its weight, causing it to weigh more than before.
There are several kinds of armor upgrades available in the game, and they all have different effects. Some upgrades give armor a greater number of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The name of the upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade that an item upgrader mod will receive, as shown below.
Some upgrades are magical or a combination of technology and magic, which is shown by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades require charges to use. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges associated with these upgrades refresh daily or never expire according to the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest option to improve your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can give significant improvement in stats and are a worthwhile cost, especially for single-handed weapons.
A piece of armor upgraded to its maximum upgrade level will dramatically increase its defense values however, the user must be aware that putting more weight on it will drastically reduce its speed and agility. It is not recommended to upgrade armor beyond +9. The boost in defense generally isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. For example an upgrade could enhance the damage caused by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of the rifle sniper. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that improve their innate qualities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).
Most weapon upgrades require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade for applying. They can be obtained by completing side quests or by killing a certain amount of monsters and bosses.
The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade fee of a set number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars you will need to complete the upgrade. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be less.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. In the past you could go to an Upgrade Bench and pay for a specific amount of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to a higher rarity. You could do this until you reached a max upgrade items level of the equipment or weapon, after which the upgrades would reset.
It's possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. Instead, you're better off going to the stores and purchasing equipment with low upgrade levels, but excellent base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a greater chance of granting you the highest level of blessings and perks.
To increase their level faster, many players prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates utilize to increase their power. Shepard, for example, should upgrade the M92F so that he can unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when used by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost the stats of a character or to provide additional effects in weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is the process of making them, where you combine the gemstone with specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or by collecting Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The quality of a diamond can be improved upon by the Jeweler, in stages that range from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts will vary according to the tier that the jewel is at when it's slotted into jewelry, weapons, or gear.
All kinds of jewels can be made at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a high enough level to obtain them. Unlike other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped out with another jewel of the same type without damaging it. However, you can only replace one jewel in an item upgrade of equipment once.
It is common to use more jewelry for aesthetic reasons. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels create an area that is stronger than metal, so repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause damage as easily.
In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades additionally, players can obtain glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs provide a small boost in power and can be exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler to exchange Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be taken out, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits or aegis can't be exchanged and can only be recovered by using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage.
Trinkets
Trinkets can provide your hero with many small, but valuable, advantages. They can be acquired starting in the areas of starting as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, or by completing road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinket that a player will be able to unlock is the cloak. It provides a tiny, but useful bonus in movement speed and the ability to escape. The player will then be able to acquire necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar manner similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of gear comes with one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be put into any kind of equipment however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and is only compatible with certain types of trinkets.
These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't in combat. This allows the hero to perform better when they are not active and also helps fill in the void of a strong team or any slots from the talent tree that normally are filled with hero's ideal statistics.
As a rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace soon. Next, any items with desirable stats that aren't as important as the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true when an item has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade since it's generally more beneficial to upgrade one important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.
In the beginning of the game, players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their yellow trinket to a red in the middle and top players will usually opt for a green or pink ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.
In addition to the items listed above, players will also find other trinkets in the form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. These can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story. For example, completing the main quest for a chapter or defeating the boss. These can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
