The best robot cleaner Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detector) are a plus.

Examine your robot's brush frequently for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it when you're at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide better cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm is great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competitors. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot vacuums with mop that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score an exemplary 10/10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and a little more cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the home based on how dirty these areas are.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot hoover and mop to clean one particular area of your home using the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
