It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work, or going to school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance.
