However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or school. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky units of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it will cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries the mop pads.
