The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum can clean and vacuum your floors with no effort. It also leaves the floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detector) are both positives.

Make sure you regularly examine the brushes of your robot for hair that is tangled as well as large debris and wash them if required. Certain models also automatically empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in an additional bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've examined. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also feature carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot cleaner's power when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work when you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and an automatic vacuum and mop bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it also learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and a little more cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum (Consis`s recent blog post) and mop. It has a range of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

The automatic vacuum and mop has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with how dirty they are.

For larger houses it's worth looking for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home via the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Finally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
