World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

For example, a weapon with the upgrade template that ends in % will suffer 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost increases with the item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into weapons, armor, and trinkets in order to provide a stat bonus or extra effect while they're in use. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to devices that have slots. The item upgrader mod must be upgraded to blue before the component can be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix changing the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for examplethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions using fewer Upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level using standard methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defense attributes of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them in the cash shop or obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of an item will be available at the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of how much it will improve following a subsequent reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be expensive, and it is possible that the item will eventually become obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items to double or even eliminate chance of failure, as well as a few upgrades that give a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade parts that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in various ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 whenever you can.

You'll often see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is the most effective method to upgrade your equipment. These are the only upgrade components which can be upgraded to level 15 and give a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt with a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with another Glyph of the same rank or a higher rank, which will boost the value of the glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs, you will have to put them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph, this will either be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, which is why it is recommended to place Glyphs in strategic locations on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. For instance an Druid should try to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, but also consider placing them near critical damage nodes too.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to improve the stats of specific items by putting upgraded components in them. This is also known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has an amount, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of 385. Each level of an item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns several Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrading an item upgrades. When enough points have been earned, you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When an individual player upgrade the equipment they have, the base item will be replaced with a new item. The same armor will be upgraded to a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own set bonus. This can be a downside in that the item could become more expensive even if you do not require it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens to do so. The item will be replaced with a brand new one that has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This can be beneficial, but should not be repeated often since it could waste resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times which increases their value and giving players the ability to alter their gear. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and exits water (or does not swim as dolphins). This item can be upgraded many times by increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item can be very valuable in PvP, as the Best item upgrader version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its non-upp'd value.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to boost the quality of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set and upgrades to weapon items increase the damage they deal and also increase their strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each when you upgrade an item it has the chance to fail. The rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to revert to its initial condition, which requires the user to spend more materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.

If an item does not upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it gained like chances to be crit damage to attack, additional effects (such as increased heal over time or reloading speed). The player is able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item upgrade is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon increases its crit chance that it will be applied before any attack damage increases. Slots is a new attribute that was added to item definitions. The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined by its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. Premium items have different requirements for upgrading as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. Regardless, the player will have to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. Each equipment upgrade requires different amounts of the ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the cost mentioned above.
