GreenPower Motor Company produces a complete line of high-floor and low-floor all-electric medium and heavy-duty vehicles. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship model, and it is able to be adapted to suit a wide range of applications. The platform's design is based on a clear paper that allows for optimum placement of the battery pack and a lower center-of-gravity. This leads to better payload/range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX is designed to meet the needs of mid-to-last mile refrigerated delivery and catering applications. The class 4 refrigerated trucks with a single wall structure inside and a higher insulation level than conventional trucks, enable seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer service life. The EV Star REEFERX offers superior capacity for cargo and a top payload to range ratio that is ideal for zero-emission goods and passenger transportation.
greenpower scooter partnered with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems. This will enable fleets to easily make the transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be able to support wireless charging of 75 kW.
We had the opportunity to test the EV9 for a few hours on a local freeway, and found it to be easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. The EV9 is able to suppress wind and road noise while driving along the highway. It glides effortlessly over ruts and humps. The acceleration is quite fast and the car has adjustable regenerative braking that allows "one pedal driving" by lifting the accelerator.
The EV9 provides a large range and can be recharged in just three hours or less at home, or using any commercial charger. The driver can select from two operating modes - eco mode and sport mode. Eco mode is a great way to increase the torque, cruise control and handling while sport mode maximizes speed. Both modes are fun to drive and offer an experience unlike any other for those who haven't experienced driving an electric vehicle before.
GreenPower offers a variety of other electric wheel scooter vehicles which include a multi-purpose electric Mobility scooter fastest minibus dubbed the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be used as an executive shuttle, micro-transit or transit bus, vanpool, or a paratransit vehicle.
GreenPower is currently producing around 10 EV Star buses per month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is working to replace their fleet of old diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric vehicles. With the Biden Administration planning to electrify school buses across the country, GreenPower plans on ramping up production to meet demand. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be tested by Altoona and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant and ADA certified. This makes them eligible for federal transit grants.
