The cost of upgrades will be based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using an button, which will show an item upgrades's preview at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level. For example weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
