What type of buggy do you want?

Double buggys are ideal for transporting up to two children at the same time, even if they are not the same age. They can be used as prams and have a reclining mechanism in each seat so your children can lie down in various positions. A lot of them have plenty of storage space for everything from snacks and drinks to nappies and wipes. They're typically lightweight, fold up easily and small double stroller enough to fit into your car boot. If you travel a significant amount, it's essential to make sure that the buggy be easily maneuvered with the wheels folded in your boot and taken out.

The most common type of double buggy is the side-byside one, which you've probably seen on other mums pushchairs, or perhaps ridden in as a child. They're great for twins or older siblings who want to keep pace with you. They also come in various seating configurations, including 'cinema seats'. They are generally easy to navigate, and if you choose a model with a soft suspension, they will effortlessly handle kerbs.

Tandem buggies are a popular option because they're easier to turn than side-by-side. The second seat is positioned behind the first rather than on the top. They're usually wider than a side-by-side and can be a bit bulky when folded, which is why it's important to check they'll fit through doors and on public transport. They can be used to transport twins, a toddler, an infant or three children, with the addition of an additional buggy board.

Lastly there are the'single-to-double' convertibles which can be used as a single pushchair from birth then convert to a double by attaching a second seat, carrycot or car seat to their clever frame. They're more expensive than tandem buggies and side-by-side buggies, but they offer plenty of flexibility and a very high selling price. They are easy to steer and come with large storage bins. They also have the ability to handle uneven surfaces. Some models come with a built-in ride-on boards for older children and 'cinema seats'.

Do you have twins?

Double buggys are the ideal method of transporting your children, regardless of whether they are twins or older siblings. There are two primary kinds of double buggy - side-by-side buggies in which your children sit together and tandem double buggy buggies in which one child is placed above the other. Both buggies can accommodate two fixed seats. However side-by-side buggies tend to be narrower to be able to pass through doors. Tandems tend to be wider in general. They can also accommodate a carrycot and toddler seats.

Do you have a toddler?

Having a younger sibling can be an enormous responsibility at first, especially when you need to be attentive to the infant. A double running buggy buggy can also make it easier for children to feel included when you put them in an infant carrier and push the older child. It can also help your child get into their new role of big brother or sister'.

Side-by-side double buggies are often considered to be the best twin buggy choice for twins because they allow both children to enjoy the same view, but they can be hefty and heavy. We love the streamlined B-AGILE DOUBLE from Leclerc which has an innovative frame that expands the width to accommodate two fixed seats and offers different configuration options, including the second seat being used as a bassinet or infant carrier.

If you prefer, we suggest alternatively, we recommend the Mountain Buggy Double Trailblazer for families who love to explore. This innovative buggy is a single-pushchair that can be converted into double by adding an additional seat or carrycot (depending on model). Its super-smooth ride is ideal for rough terrain and comes with a variety of clever features that will keep everyone happy.

Do you need a travel system?

Double buggies can be an ideal way to move your children in a comfortable way. However they aren't necessary for every family. You could get by with just one stroller, with a few attachments, such as baby straps and toddler carriers that permit your child and you to be able to travel on their backs, or in the front.

If you choose to purchase a double buggy there are three types to pick from: side-by-side or tandem, and convertible. Side-by-side buggies come with two seats next to each other, so your children will be able see each other. They are larger than a single stroller, and may be difficult to navigate over kerbs. Tandem buggies offer an easier way to travel with a seat in the front and another in the rear, but they can still be large and heavy to push.

Convertible double buggies permit you to convert a single stroller into a double buggy by attaching a bassinet or infant car seat to the frame. This way, you can keep your infant snuggled safely in their car seat until they're ready for a move into the main buggy seat. The UPPAbaby Vista V2 is a great example of this. It's suitable for twins or a toddler and baby or even three children with the the optional PiggyBack board.

When your children are older and have more endurance, a double buggy for twins-buggy can also be used to accompany them on bike rides or day excursions where they prefer walking. However, it's worth remembering that they may not want to be in a buggy, and they could easily become disgruntled and tired during longer trips.

Before you purchase a double stroller, take into consideration the factors above and your family's unique situation. A sturdy and reliable double buggy will make life easier, especially when you are required to navigate busy streets or overcrowded malls.
