Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. The robots that vacuum and mop also come with Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide better cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross-contamination. It did a good cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's loud which could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live some more volume and a little more cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and drys mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the degree of dirt they are.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have number of furniture. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop (mouse click the following webpage) cleaners we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to organize an automatic vacuum and mop spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
