World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades can be used to improve the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and boost additional stats.

Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increase when it is upgraded. This value is the total of all its leveled up advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on who you hire and what you do. This is due to the number of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.

Item level is a widely used measure of power, and can be seen on all item tooltips. It also serves to determine a gating condition when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). The average level of an item upgrading is listed on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell gear players can evaluate the level of an item. It's an indicator of the item's condition and quality. The item level can also be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a seller.

The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including the ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are a few theories on how the calculation of the item's level is done. One theory suggests that the level of an item is calculated by formulas that determine the worth of an item's stats actually are. It is based on the fact that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This can result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is typically close to the actual Blizzard level of the item.

However, this isn't the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, as the level of the region the item was dropped in could change the value of its stats, for example by adding an additional level to its haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the Best item upgrade." The stat modifications of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.

The upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers will be upgraded several times at higher prices.

Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an Best item upgrade. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all sizes and shapes. Affixes can do things like give the item extra damage, add a special ability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down the cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting a special name to the Best item upgrade.

All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade item window, and pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges just like the other methods of rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item to a specific stat, or reroll the affixes. The possible ranges of stats for an item are based on the level of the item, but all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within that range, unless it's an exclusive item or the result of a God roll from a boss of a raid.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attachments, or pick which stats to boost. But as with base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item level, and the item compare interface would not display all the possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items and the properties that are created by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players the chance to acquire better equipment earlier in the game and is therefore more useful in early game runs than in later ones, as most players prioritize more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.

Luck can also increase the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading that increase with each new level of item. They can also be increased with the use of anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can be created or spawned by using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be improved by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to increase the value of 40 luck or to increase the luck of the item to 140.

Additionally some items, such as the Hollow infused weapon can be used to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available at the store, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent themselves from losing an item if the upgrade fails.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased as much, and the likelihood that an upgrade will fail can't be greater than 100%..

The performance of an upgrades is also influenced by the luck of the item. All items have an initial success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases that chance by an additional 5percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory therefore enchantment glints and other effects may be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
