Rajesh "Raj" Subramaniam (born 1967) is an Indian-American business executive who serves as president and chief executive officer of FedEx Corporation, the world's largest express transportation company.[3] He assumed the role of CEO on June 1, 2022, becoming only the second CEO in FedEx's history, succeeding founder Fred Smith.[4]
Born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India, Subramaniam represents a prominent Indian-American success story, rising from an associate marketing analyst when he joined FedEx in 1991 to leading a Fortune 50 company with over $87 billion in annual revenue. In recognition of his achievements, he received the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award in 2023, the highest civilian honor awarded by the President of India to members of the Indian diaspora.[5]

Rajesh Subramaniam was born in 1967 in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), the capital of Kerala in southern India. He comes from a family with distinguished careers in public service and medicine.[6]

Education
Early education: Subramaniam attended Loyola School in Trivandrum, a well-regarded institution in Kerala.

Early career (1991-2006)
Subramaniam joined FedEx in 1991 as an associate marketing analyst, beginning a career that would span more than three decades at the company.[8]
He quickly rose through management and marketing roles across Asia and the United States:
Asia-Pacific roles (1996-2003):
- Vice President of Marketing, FedEx Express Asia-Pacific (based in Singapore)
- Developed the company's presence across high-growth Asian markets
Canada (2003-2006):
- Regional President, FedEx Canada (based in Mississauga)

Senior Vice President (2006-2013)
In June 2006, Subramaniam was appointed Senior Vice President at FedEx Services, where he spent over six years building the company's service capabilities and customer solutions.

In February 2013, he was promoted to Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications at FedEx Corporation, responsible for brand strategy, advertising, and communications across all FedEx operating companies.

Family
Raj Subramaniam is married to Uma Subramaniam, a graduate of Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A), one of India's top business schools. Uma previously worked at FedEx alongside Raj for many years.[10]
The couple has two children and resides in Memphis, Tennessee, where FedEx is headquartered.
